The PASeries test items and assessments were developed using the same procedures used for high-stakes test development; they underwent five rounds of review before undergoing extensive field tests to provide scientifically validated operational forms. There were four field studies over the 2003-2004 school year that involved over 40,000 students, from districts including: Miami-Dade County PS (FL), Long Beach USD (CA), and Houston ISD (TX). In order to maintain their validity and reliability, PASeries assessments are part of a self-contained system. In other words, PASeries assessments -- screening tests, progress monitoring assessments and diagnostic tests at various levels and grades, plus the related test items -- are not designed to be modified, in order to ensure consistent results.
